Join Us for a Virtual Discussion on Hope and Healing with Addiction Experts

On Wednesday, September 11, from 7:00-8:00 p.m., ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï will host the first in a series of “SAFE Conversationsâ€â€”a monthly discussion series focusing on substance use disorders. SAFE stands for Support, Advocacy and Family Education. The discussants will include:

  • Dr. Jonathan Avery, Vice Chair for Addiction Psychiatry and Director of the Program for Substance Use and Stigma of Addiction at ÍøÆسԹÏ
  • David Sheff, acclaimed author and journalist for his work on addiction and its impact on families. Sheff is best known for his memoir Beautiful Boy, which chronicles his family’s struggle with his son’s addiction.Ìý

Dr. Daniel Knoepflmacher, Vice Chair for Education and Director of the General Psychiatry Residency at ÍøÆسԹÏ, will moderate the discussion.Ìý

In our first conversation, we will discuss family impact, hope for recovery and what loved ones should know about substance use disorder.Ìý
