Group Therapy Programs

Our providers offer a rotating selection of evidence-based group programs for new and existing patients. Led by one of our psychologists, each group is formed with the careful placement of individuals who would benefit from the therapy and interaction with other patients. Child and Adolescent Groups

Secret Agent Society

Location: Weill Cornell Psychiatry Sutton Place

Group Leads: Renae Beaumont, Ph.D.  and Amy Miranda, LCSW

Secret Agent Society is an award-winning, evidence-based social skills training program for children aged 8 to 12 with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This 10-week spy-themed group program provides a mix of in-person activities and computer games that teach children resilience and social skills. Children also develop their social and emotional skills in weekly “club meetings” and progress is discussed in weekly parent/child briefing meetings. Our psychologists provide continued support through two booster sessions at 3 months and 6 months following the conclusion of the program.

Teen Social Success

Location: Weill Cornell Psychiatry Sutton Place

Group Lead: Renae Beaumont, Ph.D.

Teen Social Success is an 8-week program for adolescents aged 12 to 16 with the goal to improve emotion recognition, emotion regulation and social connectedness skills. This group meets weekly, offering a 60-minute psychotherapy session for youth followed by a 30-minute session for parents.

OCD and Anxiety Group

Location: Weill Cornell Psychiatry Specialty Center

As part of our Intensive Treatment Program for OCD and Anxiety, our providers offer individual sessions for youth aged 7-17, focusing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). These 90-minute sessions, held one to two times a week, are designed to help young individuals with primary anxiety disorders and/or OCD manage their symptoms effectively and improve their overall well-being.

In addition to individual sessions, we offer a SPACE-informed (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) group for parents of youth with primary anxiety disorders and/or OCD. These 60-minute weekly sessions provide parents with strategies and support to better understand and assist their children in managing anxiety and OCD.

Young Adult Groups

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Group for Young Adults with Anxiety

Location: Virtual

Group Lead: Madeline Levitt, Ph.D.

This 6-week program, consisting of 90-minute weekly meetings, is designed for individuals aged 18-28 who are dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD and related concerns. The group utilizes exposure therapy and developmental tasks to help participants improve their overall functioning. By participating in this program, young adults will learn effective strategies to manage their anxiety and related challenges, leading to enhanced well-being and daily functioning.

Emerging Adults CBT Group

Location: Weill Cornell Psychiatry Sutton Place

Group Leads: Arielle Linsky, Ph.D. and Madeline Levitt, Ph.D.

This biweekly group is tailored for emerging adults aged 18-28 dealing with anxiety disorders (GAD, social anxiety, panic, OCD) and struggling with developmental milestones like completing college, maintaining employment or self-care. The group focuses on psychoeducation, cognitive restructuring, exposure therapy and emotion coping skills while supporting participants in achieving key life goals, such as gaining independence, managing coursework and building social networks.

College Ready Group

Location: Virtual

Group Lead: Renae Beaumont, Ph.D.

The College Ready Program is an intensive 4-week course designed for high school seniors preparing for the transition to college. With one-hour sessions held twice a week, this group focuses on enhancing study and organizational skills, self-care practices, and social connectedness. Participants will gain practical strategies to manage their academic workload, maintain their well-being, and build meaningful relationships. Our goal is to ensure a smooth and successful transition to college life.

Parent Group Sessions

Helping Young Adult Thrive

Location: Virtual

Group Lead: Angela Chiu, Ph.D.

This supportive group helps parents of young adults aged 18-28 you understand why young adults get stuck and fosters effective communication and independence between parents and young adults. During this 6-week program, parents also learn to balance independence with setting expectations and focus on caregiver self-care.

Parents of Youth with Behavioral Difficulties Group

Location: Virtual

Group Lead: Andrea Temkin-Yu, Psy.D.

This 10-week program is designed to support parents of children aged 5-11 with ADHD or other behavioral challenges. Meeting weekly for 60 minutes, this group focuses on building strong parent-child relationships, encouraging positive behaviors and reducing conflicts. Parents will gain practical strategies and support for fostering a more harmonious and effective parenting approach.

Parents of Tweens/Teens Group

Location: Virtual

Group Lead: Andrea Temkin-Yu, Psy.D.

This 10-week group program is designed for parents of adolescents aged 12-18 who are dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD or other behavioral challenges. Meeting weekly for 60 minutes, the group aims to strengthen parent-teen relationships, foster positive behaviors, and reduce conflicts. Parents will develop effective parenting strategies and receive support for navigating the complexities of raising teens.
